Terra uses a small, transparent editorial process rather than a personality-driven financial brand. The goal is to make the reasoning, sources, assumptions and limits easier to inspect than the person behind the page.
“Editorial Team” describes the role used to research, draft, check and maintain Terra content. It is not meant to imply a large newsroom or a credential the site does not have.
Terra was founded by a self-directed investor with more than 20 years of experience investing in stocks and options and roughly 15 years of experience as a financial-advisor client. That experience helps identify practical questions around fees, taxes, retirement assumptions and long-term tradeoffs.
The founder is not a financial advisor, CFP, CPA, attorney or registered investment professional. Terra does not present investing experience as a substitute for professional licensing. The site provides education, scenario math and research — not individualized advice.
Substantive articles and studies use the Terra Investor Tools Editorial Team byline so the public focus stays on the sources, assumptions and reproducible work. This page exists so that brand byline is not anonymous about how the work is produced.
Not every page needs the same review depth. Current rules, financial calculations and decision guides receive more scrutiny than navigation or product-help pages.
Terra favors questions a reader may actually have — what a fee costs, why a bond price moves, what changes a retirement result — rather than publishing content simply to increase page count.
IRS, SEC/Investor.gov, Department of Labor, FINRA, CFPB, Federal Reserve and original published data are favored when they are the appropriate authority. Secondary sources can inspire a topic or add context, but do not silently replace the underlying source.
Scenario calculations are labeled as models and their assumptions are made visible. Protected calculator engines are regression-tested across releases so editorial changes do not quietly change financial math.
When a concept is easy to misunderstand, Terra tries to begin with a short answer, example or analogy, then add the technical detail a reader needs to inspect the reasoning.
Many financial questions do not have one universal winner. Terra tries to show the tradeoff, important exceptions and the assumptions that would make another choice more reasonable.
A Reviewed date means the substance was checked. An Updated date is reserved for meaningful content changes. Dates are not refreshed simply to make an old page appear new.
Terra uses AI as an editorial and development aid, with guardrails around financial facts and calculations.
AI may help organize a draft, suggest clearer wording, identify questions a beginner may ask, review code, or help compare the page against its stated editorial standards.
Time-sensitive rules, numerical claims and externally sourced facts are checked against appropriate references. AI-generated wording is not treated as evidence, and a calculator output is not accepted simply because a model said the code looks correct.
Terra decides which topics fit the site, which assumptions are reasonable to show, what gets published, and when a page needs revision or removal.
Financial rules and source material can change. Clear corrections are more valuable than pretending a page can never be wrong.
